Greetings from Vajragoni here at Unborn Mind Zen!
Another blog season has come to its conclusion. The most recent series, Buddhism’s Black Holes, was a venture into the mystic associations of Icons and Relics in spiritual traditions. Prior to that was a series based on the Sutra of Perfect Enlightenment, refashioned in a version in Light of the Unborn entitled, The Sutra of Primordial Enlightenment. This Sutra is a good introduction to the Sudden and Gradual Ways towards Enlightenment. The series Karma and Rebirth, was a systematic study based on interpretations stemming from Vedic Origins, Early Buddhist, Unborn Bhagavad Gita, The Yogasūtras of Patañjali, Mahayana and Yogacara, Dependent Origination and Tibetan Viewpoints. Prior to that was a vast study on the Mahāparinirvāṇasūtra—perhaps Mahayana Buddhism’s most intimate Sutra in terms of its exposition of the Buddha’s final days with his much-loved multitude of devotees; in particular with how he wanted his beloved Dharma to be understood. Perhaps our series on The Ratnagotravibhāgaśāstra was the most exhaustive one this blog season, thoroughly encompassing its import as the Ultimate Doctrine concerning the Tathagata-garbha corpus as representing the final and definitive teachings of the Tathagata, over and above teachings on intrinsic emptiness of the prajñā-pāramitā literature and other former Mahāyana scriptures. The series, Gnostikos, examined Orthodox Spirituality in light of such Light-Masters as Evagrius Ponticus and Isaac of Nineveh, as well as encompassing such principles as Hesychasm and Nepsis.
Our season began in August with a series entitled, The Naga Chronicles, portraying a most intimate encounter I had with Naga-Beings and their Naga-Gnosis, all of which transpired over the summer months during which I was convalescing from a physical affliction. Another series initiated at this time, Contemporary Musings, covered topics pertinent to current issues afflicting our Saha-World. This will be an ongoing series, perhaps with additional material during my contemplative sojourn, but otherwise I will be taking time now to recharge my spiritual vitality as well as extra dharma-study and meditation in deep samadhis.
Until next time, be safe and well and Happy Reading!
