    It’s interesting that Bodhidharma is never portrayed as calm and serene. I can’t define the emotion of his facial expression but it’s certainly not “the joyful ease of a sitting Buddha” (Dogen). – Bodhidharma is depicted in many ways, but none show a man in a “joyful ease”.
