    Dear Vajragoni,

Thank you for great content as always.

May I please ask which, if any, methods you have found most efficacious at breaking the bondage to carnality? The carnality of the desire realm is extremely binding and sexual lust/desire is a strong fetter in my own experience.

I keep striving to rid myself of it, and I hope as my Dharma practice flourishes I will end this klesha fully, but for now I seem to be quite easily spellbound by its allure – or in this context, too easily misled by Mara in this aspect.

Would appreciate any thoughts on the matter.

    Thank you,

      Greetings!

I am aware that you are a regular reader here and are most likely to be familiar with the material presented. Your question coincides with some passages from the Unborn Bhagavad Gita series that I was just utilizing in the most recent blog–the following passages are good ones to meditate upon given your question:

5.21 No longer being intrigued nor attached to the phenomenal order the yogin thus makes a dramatic-shift away from the composed into the uncomposed and noumenal bliss of the Tathagatas.

(Commentary)This has a great bearing on the sexual-component. The foremost pleasure in the material-world is the insatiable sexual-appetite. A worldling is forever held and motivated by pent-up biological functions that become permanent sensual-roadblocks to transcendent freedom (moksha). A yogin engaged in the Amala-consciousness of the Tathagatas experiences greater vitality by not being transfixed with one’s own sexuality. The fire of the inner noumenal-bliss needs to supplant the repressive power of the loins. One set-free in such a fashion soon realizes that transcendent-grace (accompanied with noumenal bliss) and sex do not bode-well together. To be finally liberated from this favorite pastime (sexual-obsession) of Mara is moksha (liberation) indeed.

I’d also like to suggest a reading of the entire series on the Unborn Gita–it empowers one to keep the skandhic devils in check. Believe me, reading and meditating upon this particular series is a grace and if taken to heart will point your spirit in the direction away from carnality.

Also, remember that there are always “triggers” in the present-day social environment that can lead to sexual-fixation. Something seen on tv or on the internet (perhaps some social-media type occurrences) or heard on the radio or picked-up from reading a book or periodical, and even coming into contact with the population at large (at work, shopping, ect). Just be aware of what your own particular triggers are and make a determined resolve to focus on the Unborn Spiritual Lord (as described in the Unborn Gita) as a source of refuge. All my best,

      Vajragoni

I will do that, thank you very much for the kind advice.
