Since this post is obviously a reaction to my comments, I’ll make one more post.

    1) If the “Inner-Guru” is able to speak to you directly, why the need for any “external” “sūtra”? (By the way, why do you call the tantra a “sūtra”?)

    2) On the other hand, if you say that your “Inner-Guru” comes into dialogue with the “sūtra” which somehow enriches it, or acts as a mirror, or embodies the “Inner-Guru” in an external form (projecting it), etc. – why all this haste in eliminating the outer Guru? The outer Guru is superior to any sūtra or tantra because he is a living text. He can respond, criticize, point out where you are still clinging to self, etc. You need a teacher so that you can check your understanding. A book cannot do this for you.

    3) You can create your own spiritual tradition and act as a prophet in it, there’s nothing wrong with that. However, if you adopt the texts of another tradition, why not respect their rules? This is actually a breach of the precepts against stealing! And if not, what is your Vajrayāna lineage? I cannot find it anywhere on the website.

You can’t have your cake and eat it too!

Here’s my challenge. Find 1 single Tibetan lama that agrees with your position and disagrees with mine, and I’ll wire you $1000.

Or do the whole of Tibet doesn’t matter, and every Vajrayāna Guru, except your “Inner-Guru”? That “Inner-Guru” might actually be the demon of narcissistic enjoyment that does not want to confront the other. The “other” is the Guru before whom you tremble!

    • Vyartha says:

PS: Before you start attacking with ad hominem about my history and using our personal relationship for that, let me just say my intention is just to challenge you to verify your understanding with a qualified lineage teacher. You live in a country that has many great exiled Tibetan teachers. You could actually become a great Vajra practitioner in this life, with your wealth of knowledge and practice, you’re positioned to advance quickly. But you need to stop disparaging one of the Kayas (Nirmanakaya) and realize that the three are inseparable!

      • Vajragoni says:

I expect that this is only a passing fad for you, just like all the rest, but you should definitely read: Enthralled, the Guru Cult of Tibetan Buddhism, Christine A. Chandler who lived that life for over 20 years. And I mean read the text, not just any reviews about it, and then make up your own mind.

        • Vyartha says:

Well, you jumped from being a Christian minister to Reiki master to a disciple of (To)zen, then Daoism, then self-styled Vajra practitioner, – you and I share a pretty common pattern after all!

I will check that out, there are many abusive Gurus but people should be careful not to throw the baby out with the bathwater! There are many authentic, enlightened Gurus from Tibet.

An institution does not become itself corrupt in itself if some that represent it become corrupt. Are you not using that book as an excuse to not search for an authentic Vajrayāna lineage holder?

I cannot judge your Tantric practice. If you are like the mahāsiddha who receive teachings directly from the Saṃbhogakāya, then so be it. I have no way to ascertain that. Only you can answer that for yourself. But if you aren’t such an individual, it’s best to seek the blessings of the lineage via conventional means.

BTW the only reason this is not a fad for me is that of empowerment I witnessed, and for a split second, I could see the nature of the mind. That made me realize this stuff is for real. It changed my life, in a moment. So I realized this cannot be just a hobby, and can’t be learned from books. My dreams lead me to go to that Rinpoche and to witness that empowerment. I’m clueless but I just say this for those who are not sure whether they are getting the juice or not, that meeting with a true teacher, is life-changing and no book learning can ever replace it. They can give you the moment of clear seeing of buddhanature, but then one has to work hard to expand that beyond a split second.

Be well my friend, I wish you all the best. Not everyone is corrupt, there are still authentic lineage teachers out there!

          • Vajragoni says:

Here are some excepts from that text:

“I had not a clue that the Dalai Lamas, over the centuries, had kept their Tibetan people as indentured labor and slaves; cutting out tongues, cutting off limbs and gouging out the eyes of those who were disrespectful of them, or disobeyed their absolutist and tyrannical rule.”

“They [Gurus] all seem like sad little boys, without mothers, to me now; with an occasional sociopath, among them. Sad little boys, who get the whole world to mother them; give in to their wishes and demands; as though they were still three years old.”

“At this cremation, we also witnessed the Tibetan lamas’ obsession with the biological fluids of a high lama’s body; including their piss and shit. I later learned why the monk-servants were slinking off with the commode of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, whose offal they rolled with herbs and made into “blessing pills.” Only when I was leaving the cult, did I realize what those blessing pills were composed of: the waste material of high lamas that their devotees, throughout the centuries, believe is blessed and divine and can cure disease.”

“Thomas Rich, a.k.a. Osel Tendzin, western teacher and appointed Regent of the popular Tantric guru, Chogyam Trungpa, seduces his male students into the sexual Tantric practices of the Vajrayana while knowing he has the deadly AIDS virus and how it is spread. The board of directors of Trungpa’s organization, Vajradhatu, including an American physician, go right along. They let Trungpa’s ‘dharma heir’ continue to have sex with his students, despite knowing he has this infectious AIDS virus, and how it is spread.”

“Repeating the mantra “may I always obey my master and never reveal the secrets of the Vajrayana or may I turn to dust” completed the Vajrayana Tantric students’ years of preparation for the total control of their minds.”

Just be wary of where you tred.

*Also, it needs to be stressed that my spiritual progression spans decades, not just you say, “jumping-around”. My Ministry spanned over 30 years, and the Reiki element coincided with those years and became “integrated” with it and continue to, just as the Tozen and Daoist and Vajrayana Teachings have. All of these in fact constitute the make-up of these many blogs and series. If there’s been any “jumping” around from one spiritual fix to another, well that comes closer to home for you. Be careful–just go slow and really reflect on this one.
